Accessibility by Design Award

Citizen Advocacy - Celebration of People is an annual awards program and dinner event first held in Ottawa in 2001 and takes place each year in conjunction with December 3—designated by the United Nations as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The awards recognize the achievements and contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations promoting accessibility, inclusion and full community participation by citizens with disabilities in 13 categories and with 450 guests in attendance.

This year, AXS - Jim Middaugh, was the recipient of the City of Ottawa "Accessibility by Design Award" specifically for his work at the Children's Therapeutic Respite Program in Ottawa, but nominated because of the exceptional knowledge Jim has shown in the field of accessibility and life safety.
Jim is the principal of AXS Inc. and has been involved in delivering exceptional building solutions for over 25 years. He has extensive public and private sector experience in project management, contract administration, accessibility issues and architectural design and has been involved in the development of many of the Christian Horizons' homes and programs.
