
ACCREDITATION
Christian Horizons has been successful in its bid to be accredited by FOCUS Accreditation. Accreditation extends from June 2010 until June 2013.
In the results, FOCUS stated that, “The information collected before and during the on-site validation clearly demonstrated that Christian Horizons has worked hard to meet and exceed the standards established by FOCUS”, and “Congratulations on achieving such a high level of performance, and for providing services of the highest quality”.
The accreditation process included reviewing the effectiveness and efficiency of supports and services in a number of different areas, such as person centered support, friends, family, & community, finances, human resources, board governance, health, safety & wellness, organizational learning and more. During the on-site validation, the validation teams visited 130 places where services are provided and shared 57 meals with people using services. In addition, FOCUS conducted interviews with:
- Over 220 People who use their services and their family members.
- 104 Direct Support Staff.
- Over 90 Management Staff.
- 18 Community Partners.
FOCUS identified that Christian Horizons has many strengths, including:
- People who use Christian Horizons services and their family members expressed a high degree of satisfaction.
- The organization had strong leadership.
- Staff were described as being dedicated and caring people.
- People’s rights were being respected and the organization demonstrated a commitment to improving people’s lives.
- The internal structures of the organization, including risk management, human resources, finances, records management and governance were all in compliance with standards.
This achievement is, without a doubt, a reflection of our collective efforts and ongoing commitment to “making things better”. This milestone is certainly an occasion for celebration as we journey towards achieving our strategic goals of not only achieving accreditation but maintaining it as we seek to be accountable for providing exceptional services.
