Serving Cobourg, Port Hope, Lindsay, Peterborough and the Durham Region

The Central East District provides services and supports to people with exceptional needs in Peterborough, Port Hope, Cobourg, Lindsay and the Durham Region. The staff provides services to adults with developmental disabilities through residential programs, Family Home programs, Supported Independent Living programs, Community Support and Employment programs, and Children’s Respite services. Our purpose is to contribute to each individual’s quality of life (emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually) for maximum fulfillment. As a district, our commitment is to provide supports that are person-directed.

Meet our Executive Director | Shawn Eddison

Shawn Eddison has devoted his entire career to improving the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. He has worked with Christian Horizons for nearly 20 years and has held a variety of roles from front-line support worker to management.

He has been Executive Director since 2007 and oversees a team of more than 300 caring support staff. Shawn is a graduate of the Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough, Ontario where he earned a degree in theology. He lives in Millbrook, Ontario with his wife, Sandra, and three teenage children.
