Our global initiatives began in 2001 when we responded to a call for help from those serving persons with disabilities in Ecuador. The insights gained from that initial undertaking gave us the experience to embrace the many more requests from all corners of the globe. By 2005, Christian Horizons was extending its cooperation and support to the nations of Guatemala, Ethiopia, Russia and Sri Lanka. We are also cooperating with our sister organization Christian Horizons Inc. in Michigan, USA.

The needs of persons with disabilities globally are familiar to us as they were the ones being fought for, and on some levels continue to be sought after right here at home: the need for public awareness; the need for services including educational and rehabilitative programs; the need to break down stigma and the walls of seclusion; and the need for government to play a larger role in offering support.

Recognizing that meeting such needs on a global scale is an ambitious task for any one organization alone, Christian Horizons has embraced the partnership model as its method for involvement in other countries. By partnering with like-minded agencies, groups or individuals already established in a given area, the process of bringing in various types of support has been made much more manageable.

Christian Horizons is working in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Russia, Ecuador and with people from the First Nations community in Canada. Please pray for Christian Horizons Global Projects
