International Day for Persons with Disabilities

Christian Horizons strives to minister those we support, as well as the community at large; working for inclusion and advocating for those with exceptional needs not only within Christian Horizons, but also in our global community.

One of the key events, established by the United Nations, to promote awareness and support of the human rights of persons with disabilities is the annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3rd.

There are many ways a congregation can share and celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.  These include:

  • Invite someone or a family to share his or her personal story or information on those with disabilities.
  • Include a special prayer time devoted to families, and supports and services for those with disabilities.
  • Consider ways to include persons with disabilities in your ministries.
  • Consider the ways to support the spiritual needs of families and persons with disabilities.
  • Provide a special offering for a ministry that supports and advocates for those with disabilities.
  • Invite individuals with disabilities from the community to join your Sunday service.

Together, we can raise awareness in our Christian community of the many issues that affect the lives of those with exceptional needs.  Together, we can promote inclusion and a sense of belonging.
