Peter has a Bachelor of Arts & Science and a Masters of Science (Psychology) from McMaster University. He has worked with persons with disabilities for over 25 years in a variety of direct care, vocational, research and clinical settings. He has extensive experience as a therapist working with children and adults with autism, developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses. He also developed and ran a support group for siblings of persons with intellectual disabilities.

Peter has presented courses and workshops in academic, professional and other settings on topics such as Person Centered Supports, team work, self managed/self directed teams, consent issues, working with persons who have come into contact with the criminal justice system, dealing with challenging behaviours, ethical issues in providing services, investigating allegations of abuse, autism, and aspects of human development. He has provided consultation to a variety of government groups and private agencies.

Peter is an active member of his local church and community.  Peter enjoys spending time with his family as well as training for and competing in triathlons.

Steve Snider, B.S.W.

Steve first became involved with the developmental service sector when he started as an “Integration Worker” through the Brockville and District Association for Community Living. This opportunity influenced his decision to pursue studies in Social Work at Ryerson. In 1988, Steve joined Christian Horizons. Since that time, he has served in a variety of roles including residential Support Worker, Day Program Vocational Instructor, Behaviour Therapist, and now in Training and Education.

Steve is well known in the field of developmental services for the courses he has developed and delivered to numerous agencies across Ontario. He believes that training needs to be practical and fun for valuable learning to occur. As the manager of Educational Services, Steve oversees the training that is delivered by over 100 Christian Horizons trainers and six training coordinators across the province.

Steve is an Elder at his local church (communityfellowship.org). Steve is a musician, songwriter, and has been married to his wife Deborah since 1989.

Megan MacDonald, B.Sc., M.Sc.

Megan has been with Christian Horizons since 2004. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Studies and a Master of Science degree in Health Studies. Previously, Megan worked for a university-based research group managing several large projects and assisting with data analysis. While working as an independent consultant, she conducted and analyzed face-to-face and telephone interviews, facilitated focus groups, and assisted with program evaluations. Megan holds a certificate in Volunteer Management and has provided leadership to Christian Horizons regarding volunteerism and student placements.

Megan presents on a variety of topics including the rights of people supported, person centred support in camp settings, and documentation requirements. Megan maintains direct involvement with the people supported by Christian Horizons through participation in special events and program visits.

Outside of Christian Horizons, Megan is actively involved in supporting camping ministry as a member of the Board of Directors for a local Christian children’s camp and retreat centre. Megan is also an avid gardener and enjoys spending time with her family.
