Community Participation Supports

Learn skills, give back, and get involved! Christian Horizons Community Participation Supports offer opportunities that include skills development, community involvement, employment, volunteer opportunities and recreational activities.

Employment Supports

Christian Horizons recognizes the many skills and abilities people with exceptional needs can offer a place of employment. Our Employment Support Services offer opportunities for you to develop skills to obtain and maintain employment.

Respite

Christian Horizons respite services grant the opportunity for overnight respite care in a family home or group living setting.

Supported Independent Living

Christian Horizons Supported Independent Living services give you the opportunity to live independently or with a roommate. Support is catered to the areas where you would like assistance and can include meal preparation, banking, house keeping and medical appointments.

Host Family Services

Christian Horizons Host Family Services offers support to you in a family setting. Our mission is to helping you realize your dream of living and growing within a loving family and belonging to community.

Community Residences

Christian Horizons community residences provide a quality residential setting for people with exceptional needs who require assistance in daily living. All support is person centred, as we help you reach your personal goals.

Saskatchewan Community Residences

Of the ten Christian Horizons community-based group homes in Saskatchewan, nine of the homes are in Waldheim and the tenth is located in Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan Community Participation Supports

Participants in these programs develop skills in their areas of interest and produce high quality faux antique furniture, survey stakes, and cottage industry decor.

Saskatchewan Employment Supports

The Wood N' Needle is the retail outlet for all items produced in the various Community Participation programs.

Saskatchewan Day Program

The main building of Christian Horizons is home to two day programs that focus on recreation, daily living skills, and quality of life.

Community Participation Supports - Central East

Community Participation Supports - Toronto

Christian Horizons Community Participation Supports offer opportunities for adults over 18 who have a developmental disability to engage in skill development, community involvement, volunteer opportunities, social and recreational activities.

Accessing Services

We want to make it as simple as possible for you to find out about the services we offer and to work together to help you access those services.

Each community works with the provincial government that processes new applications for services. We are here to help you understand the application process and assist you with your current situation. Our ability to respond to your support needs is determined on an individual basis and takes into account a number of unique factors.

ONTARIO

Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) is the application mechanism for individuals and families to access MCSS funded adult developmental services in Ontario.

SASKATCHEWAN

In Saskatchewan, Christian Horizons partners with the Ministry of Social Services, Community Living Service Delivery (CLSD) division to provide residential and community-based day options based on an individual’s support need.
