Host Family Services

Host Family Services expands the range of residential support options offered by Christian Horizons.

In the Host Family program, adults who experience disabilities live with a Host Family in a regular home environment. This support model is very similar to foster care, where you have access to daily individualized support and receive accommodations, meals and personal care, emotional support, similar to any other family member. Those seeking supports are carefully matched with Host Families who share common interests.

What Makes a House a Home?

Want to become a Host Family?

Host Family programs across Ontario are actively seeking new Host Families for both short term and full-time supports.

Each Host Family receives a per diem amount—similar to that provided in the foster care system. All potential Host Families are screened to ensure the role is a good fit for them.

Our program coordinators provide 24/7 on-call support for Host Families as well as monthly home visits. People supported in this model enjoy belonging to their community with their Host Family. Host Families find the role highly meaningful and rewarding, and it makes all the difference to those we support to have a safe place to live where they are valued and accepted.

All are welcome to apply for this wonderful opportunity to become a Host Family. We also encourage employees of Christian Horizons to apply.
