Share your time and interest with someone
When you share your time and your gifts with others, you’ll find that they have a lot to share with you. There are many ways you can use your personality and talents to build relationships with people with exceptional needs.
Volunteer opportunities are available within our programs, at camps, for supported excursion, to help with special events and in our offices. You can assist with a fundraising event, complete maintenance or administration tasks, share your music or other interests, or accompany people on outings.
Every year we recruit skilled and enthusiastic team members for both paid and volunteer summer positions for our many summer camps. All camp volunteers are required to be at least 18 years of age and have a secondary school diploma.
Room and board expenses are paid for both staff and volunteers. An honorarium is provided to our volunteers to assist with additional expenses. Full training is provided and a life changing experience is guaranteed.
Volunteers are needed to support exceptional people on their international and local destination vacations all year round. Destinations include Toronto, Ottawa, New York, Tennessee, Florida, Disney World, Caribbean Cruises, as well as overseas destinations.
Christian Horizons relies on students, 18 years and over, and volunteers to serve with our life-changing vacation opportunities. Full training and honorariums are provided, as well as all volunteer room and board expenses are covered.

What are Family Retreat Volunteers?
Family Retreat Volunteers provide one-on-one support to persons with exceptional needs and their families. Your support to a participant during retreat activities will allow parents and caregivers to receive restorative respite. Family Retreat Volunteers are not expected to provide personal care or overnight support, administer medications, or perform intrusive behaviour interventions. Service as a Family Retreat Volunteer will give opportunities to build relationships to share the gospel and help others find hope and love in Jesus.
No previous experience necessary. Family Retreat Volunteers get training and orientation before families arrive.
Applicants must be 16 years or older.
Family Retreat Volunteers are asked to contribute financially to attend Family Retreat to keep cost down for families. We encourage Family Retreat Volunteers to raise funds through family, friends and faith communities.
When you share your time and gifts with others, you’ll find they have a lot to share with you.
For more information on opportunities near you, contact a volunteer coordinator in your community.
To maintain safety in our programs, all people wishing to volunteer are required to go through screening, orientation, and training processes appropriate to their involvement.
We have needs for people to help with one-time, as well as on-going, projects around the homes of people we support. Yard work, seasonal work, gardening, painting, and minor repair jobs are all examples of areas that a volunteer can get involved.
