Share your time and interest with someone

There are a number of different volunteer opportunities you can explore at Christian Horizons!

Visiting a person in their home, joining in on a favourite activity or assisting someone who is attending a camp or excursion.

Have a gift or talent you would like to share? Contact a Volunteer Coordinator in your community about endless possibilities.

Do you want to make a difference?

The Christian Horizons Family Camp is a unique opportunity for families living with disability to enjoy a vacation together in a safe, fun and rejuvenating atmosphere.

Christian Horizons is looking for volunteers to serve for a week as Family Camp Volunteers at one of their Family Camps. The retreat runs for one week at the end of August.

What are Family Camp Volunteers?

Family Camp Volunteers provide one-on-one support to persons with exceptional needs and their families. Your support to a participant during retreat activities will allow  parents and caregivers to receive restorative respite. Family Camp Volunteers are not expected to provide personal care or overnight support, administer medications, or perform intrusive behaviour interventions. Service as a Family Retreat Volunteer will give opportunities to build relationships to share the gospel and help others find hope and love in Jesus.

  • No previous experience necessary. Family Camp Volunteers get training and orientation before families arrive.

  • Applicants must be 16 years or older.

Family Camp Volunteers are asked to contribute financially to attend Family Retreat to keep cost down for families. We encourage Family Camp Volunteers to raise funds through family, friends and faith communities.

Volunteer In Your Community

When you share your time and gifts with others, you’ll find they have a lot to share with you.

For more information on opportunities near you, contact a volunteer coordinator in your community.

To maintain safety in our programs, all people wishing to volunteer are required to go through screening, orientation, and training processes appropriate to their involvement.

Opportunities to serve

We have needs for people to help with one-time, as well as on-going, projects around the homes of people we support. Yard work, seasonal work, gardening, painting, and minor repair jobs are all examples of areas that a volunteer can get involved.
